This series of workshops introduces you to different benefits and applications of Yoga Nidra, an easily accessible, yet profound guided meditation that is typically practiced lying down (in savasana). Yoga Nidra leads you through a carefully crafted sequence of mindfulness-based exercises into a state of deep relaxation and healing, located between sleep and wakefulness. Here, you activate your highest potential, and allow it to illuminate and transform your life. Lower stress, better sleep, enhanced clarity and creativity, as well as help in overcoming addiction, anxiety, and depression are among Nidra’s many benefits. Rooted in age-old yogic tradition, Nidra’s positive effects have also been documented by the latest research in neuroscience and other wellness-related fields. Join us and discover the many ways that Yoga Nidra can help you heal, nourish, and uplift your life.

Yoga Nidra I: Create Restorative, Sound Sleep
January 28 (2018), 2-3:30pm
Karma Yoga, 1705 S. Pearl Street

Do you ever struggle to fall asleep, or wake up in the middle of the night, your body tense and your mind racing? Are you ready to re-examine your relationship to sleep, and change it for the better? This workshop will help you do so through the powerful tools of Yoga Nidra. Meaning “Yogic Sleep” in Sanskrit, Yoga Nidra is an ancient meditative practice that activates the body’s natural process of falling asleep. It will help you improve the quality of your sleep and develop regular, effective cycles of sleeping and waking. In this workshop, you will

• Befriend your sleep cycles through understanding how your mind and body prepare for sleep and how you can support this natural process;
• Experience a complete Yoga Nidra practice and its calming, restorative effects;
• Learn several Yoga Nidra techniques that will retrain your mind and body to drift into sleep naturally, easily, and reliably.

This session also paves the way for the other two workshops in this series, which will help you let go of stress, free yourself from disserving habits and create a life you can truly love. No prior experience with yoga or meditation is necessary; everyone is whole-heartedly welcomed.

Yoga Nidra II: Let Go of Stress and Find Peace
February 25 (2018), 2-3:30pm
Karma Yoga, 1705 S. Pearl Street

We all live under punishingly intense levels of stress. Some stressors are inevitable, but being distressed by them is not. Gain clarity about which types of stress are avoidable, and learn to let them go. Identify unavoidable stressors, and change your relationship to them, so they no longer cause you suffering. Yoga Nidra can help you accomplish all of these goals by training you to enter deep relaxation at will, so that you can relate to stressful factors in your life from a much more grounded and serene mental space. In this workshop, you will:

• Gain insight into the nature of stress and the ways that your body responds to stressful situations;
• Experience a complete Yoga Nidra practice and its calming, balancing effects;
• Learn several simple techniques that will help you to change your response to stress in positive and empowering ways.

This session also paves the way for the two following workshops in this series, which will help you clear away toxic habits and direct your inner powers to self-fulfillment. No prior experience with yoga or meditation is necessary; everyone is whole-heartedly welcomed.

Yoga Nidra III: Clear Away Toxic Habits—Effortlessly!
March 11 (2018), 2-3:30pm
Karma Yoga, 1705 S. Pearl Street

All of us have habits that get in our way. Some of them are patterns of thinking that may keep our minds closed to new insights and opportunities. Other habits may drive us to consume excess sugar, caffeine, or other substances that do not serve our bodies. To make matters worse, we’ve been taught that beating these habits requires great willpower, so we feel daunted and exhausted from merely contemplating the effort involved. Do not give up! Yoga Nidra offers a much easier and more effective way to clear away toxic thoughts and behaviors. This ancient meditative practice guides body and mind into the deeply relaxed, suggestible state between sleep and wakefulness. In deep relaxation, we become open, detached, and malleable, gaining the power to let go of any habit effortlessly, and emerge purified and renewed. In this workshop, you will:

• Gain insight into how disserving habits are formed, and how to let them go, for good;
• Experience a complete Yoga Nidra practice and its purifying, rejuvenating effects;
• Learn several simple techniques that will help you replace debilitating patterns with supportive ones.

This session also paves the way for the fourth workshops in this series, which will help you gain clarity about your authentic purpose and direct your inner powers to self-fulfillment. No prior experience with yoga or meditation is necessary; everyone is whole-heartedly welcomed.

Yoga Nidra IV: Discover your Purpose and Shine
April 15 (2018), 2-3:30pm
Karma Yoga, 1705 S. Pearl Street

“Not all who wander are lost,” and many of us pride ourselves on being constant seekers. Still, exploration can be greatly enhanced by a stronger sense of direction. This workshop will help you refine your understanding of your own, authentic purpose. You will also learn how to use Yoga Nidra as a guide on your journey, an instrument for directing your inner powers toward self-realization. Together, we will create a supportive, inspiring space to help you:

• Learn several different, highly effective techniques for connecting with yourself, and use them to clarify what matters to you the most;
• Explore the ways that Yoga Nidra can help you live in harmony with the purpose(s) you have discovered, and find fulfillment;
• Experience a complete Yoga Nidra practice and its nourishing, empowering effects.

While this session can be taken by itself, you will get the most out of the experience if you combine it with at least one other Nidra workshop in this series.
