Why Practice Yoga?

Do you wish to become more flexible, perhaps because you have always worked out, but have not stretched consistently, and beginning to feel achy and bound up? Do you dream of getting stronger without spending hours on boring weight-lifting reps? Do you want to discover a practice that will help you befriend your physical body and grow spiritually? Yoga can grant you all of these wishes, and more!

What is Your Approach to Teaching Yoga?

In my private sessions and group classes, I create a safe and sacred space for you to connect with yourself and discover your inner wholeness. Through yoga poses, you can experience how your mind, body, and spirit are intimately interconnected, and become empowered to work through any obstacles, be they physical, mental, or emotional. I draw on my expertise in Reiki Energy Healing to help you tune into your vital energy flow in each and every pose. I also believe that our physical bodies are miraculous, and am fascinated by anatomy and physiology. I am constantly studying the principles of strong, supportive alignment that prevent repetitive strain injuries, and use my knowledge to help you keep your Yoga practice safe, sustainable, and ever-growing.

Do I have to be Athletic to Practice Yoga?

No, not at all! We begin where you are and move forward one step at a time, at your natural pace, with love and respect for your body, mind, and spirit. I was not athletic when I fell in love with yoga. I was in my late thirties, leading a fairly sedentary life. Before that time, I had an aversion to exercise, and horrible memories of high school gym classes that were pure torture! But yoga felt like home from day one, even though it was challenging for me.

I know what it feels like to be the only person in the yoga class who cannot hold plank, or touch her toes! And I know that with love, patience, and consistent practice, your body begins to shift, respond, and change, becoming more and more strong, graceful, and beautiful every day. And one day you also realize that touching your toes, or performing exceptional yogic feats is not the point! In yoga, as in life, the journey is the destination. We can find grace and fulfillment in every moment, wherever we are.

Because of these experiences, I especially enjoy bringing the gifts of yoga to beginners and people who do not feel comfortable in a group class setting. If you can breathe, you can do yoga!

Come to one of my workshops or classes, or book a private session to play, work, laugh, explore, and discover!

If you have special needs, concerns, or interests that are not addressed in a group class setting, book a private session with me. I can also create a custom yoga practice especially for you.
